Here it is. My very first post! I have been thinking about this post for a while. This needs to be special, it needs to be important and it needs to make an impact. So it will and it will be about a hair product.
Wait, what? I know. You are thinking, a hair product, really? Yes really, but stick with me, you are about to see why.
Do you know what states are in the top ten for the number of reported human trafficking cases? #1 California, Texas, Florida, Ohio, New York, Georgia, Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey and #10 North Carolina.
I live in North Carolina so I hear about this topic often in the news. It is terrifying. Human trafficking is a form of modern slavery—a multi-billion dollar criminal industry that denies freedom to 20.9 million people around the world. And no matter where you live, chances are it’s happening nearby. From the girl forced into prostitution at a truck stop, to the man discovered in a restaurant kitchen, stripped of his passport and held against his will. All trafficking victims share one essential experience: the loss of freedom.
There are many ways to get involved, to try to make a change. I am going to tell you about a very easy way. Yes, the hair product I mentioned. Enter Missio Hair, product with purpose.
MISSIO is a hair product company that exists to inspire and empower a movement of people in the fight against human trafficking. Missio Hair is a stylist-designed and salon-tested hair product that serve as a vehicle to educate salons in victim identification, mobilize stylists in beauty initiatives, and give to non-profit partners. By stylist design and salon tested I truly mean that. The founder Lorin Van Zand is a stylist who works in a salon less than 2 miles from my salon. You can learn more about why Missio was started here.
Now I gotta tell you, the purpose behind the product aside, the product itself is amazing! I sell the products in the salon, I use it on my clients and I have the shampoo and conditioner in my shower. I was sold at first sniff. As soon as the hair lathers on my clients I hear, ” What is that? The smell is AMAZING!” and it is. It could probably turn my hair to stone and I would still use it for the smell alone, however I am very thankful it doesn’t turn my hair to stone! The fresh scent of coral lily, lychee, pineapple, and juicy bergamot, blended with white tea, golden amber and french jasmine, is seriously uplifting. I wish they had body wash, lotion and perfume. Wait. add candles. OH! Laundry detergent. OH! Air freshener! ok Seriously this smell is everything.
Besides the purpose and the life changing smell, the ingredients are top of the line professional quality. All of the products are formulated without sulfates or parabens, and safe to use on color-treated hair. The Shampoos lather richly with the nourishing gentle coconut-derived cleansers and antioxidant-rich extracts such as acai, pomegranate, kiwi and mangosteen for protection and shine. The anti-aging properties of baobab seed protein reinforce and strengthen strands while providing superior softness. Vitamin rich, protects hair from breaking down, and promotes healthy hair and scalp- clarifies, strengthens, rejuvenates and hydrates hair. The glossing conditioner is truly that! your hair is left with a beautiful glossy shine after the first use. Avocado, sunflower seed, jojoba and coconut oils leave hair silky-soft with a glossy shine, without weighing hair down! Antioxidant-rich extracts nourish the hair, while baobab seed protein works to protect from heat, repair damage, and strengthen with every use.
I urge you to try these products and feel good about using them because MISSIO Hair is uniquely positioned to help others contribute to the prevention, rescue, and recovery of trafficked victims, all while providing amazing hair products to those who want their purchases to matter. Something as simple as an everyday hair product can contribute to an effective and widespread effort to fight one of the world’s greatest injustices.
